Manic Monday - Shop Update

I had planned to be more regular with my postings and as mentioned on my last blog post, was going to post three times a week. You know what they say about good intentions. I had an unexpected trip out of town to visit an ill relative and that threw me off for over a week. I am now back in the swing of things and hope to be here more often.

First, I am excited to say that I won something from one of my favorite yarn stores, Close Knit in Gastonia. I am a regular there on the Tuesday Knit Nights and have been coming in on Fridays to hang out. This past weekend Sheri had an open house and everyone who purchased was entered for a prize and I won. I don't think I have ever won anything before. I am so excited. Pictures later in the week of the loot.

If you haven't been to Close Knit yet, you must go. This store is everything a yarn shop should be. Sheri is the nicest thing ever and the shop (in an coverted home near downtown) is just lovely. Check them out here http://closeknitknitterypress.blogspot.com/.

I have a few new items in the shop. Hope you will stop by and take a look.

Work in Progess Wednesday

My plan is to start blogging three days a week: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Monday is going to be a mix of everything that has happened since the post on Friday and will be affectionately be called Manic Mondays, Wednesday is going to be where I show highlight my works in progress and will be WIP Wednesday, Fridays, FO Fridays will showcase exactly how it sounds, my Finished Objects.

Since today is WIP Wednesday, I have two things I am working on. The first is the February Baby Sweater by Elizabeth Zimmerman knitted with Zen Yarn Garden's Semi-Solid Club yarn in the Lemon Drop colorway. I know it looks finished, but the tag isn't sewned on yet and the button are not functional. I need to sew on the snaps so the sweater can be fastened shut.

The second item is the very beginning of a knitted bear, that will eventually be felted and stuffed. I am using Highland Heather in colorway 712 which is a dark brown. I know it doesn't look like much, but I assure you it will be an adorable vintage style bear soon.

And Two Make a Pair...

I have begun giving handknits for Christmas, but usually I am late. I got everything done this past year (08), except my brothers socks.

I sustained a wrist injury and got way behind on his socks. Eventually, I needed wrist surgery and that put me futher behind. I am pleased to admit that I am on the mend now and have completed the socks.

Here they are... They are going in the mail this week. Hope DB loves them!

The details: Malabrigo Sock in colorway Alcaucil. Basic Sock in Three Sizes by Cat Bordi. I cast on 72 stitches and used a short heel.
